The humans are conflicted and don’t believe her story. Wanderer eventually finds them and a whole host of other humans. The other voice in her head, Melanie, helps Wanderer with the journey. Not to turn them in, but to protect them. All she wants to do is find Jared and Jaime. When it was suggested that perhaps Wanderer should leave Melanie’s body and find a new host, Wanderer runs away. Wanderer also began to feel hatred towards the seeker, one of her own kind, as Melanie’s own hatred influenced Wanderer. Those human emotions affected Wanderer to the point that Melanie’s emotions soon became Wanderer’s emotions. Her assigned seeker was stubborn and refused to leave Wanderer in peace.Īs time went on, Melanie’s suffering grew within Wanderer. She was strong, and Wanderer could not break through the walls in her own mind. But Melanie resisted Wanderer’s probing and hid the secrets. They needed to know where the rest of her human friends were hiding.

The other souls knew that Wanderer’s old human soul had belonged to the resistance. Wanderer thought that perhaps she had been implanted into a defective body. Melanie was still there, burdening her thoughts and making it impossible to live in peace and tranquility which is what the souls expect. For some reason the old soul, the one who inhabited this body before she did, just won’t go away like it should. She has never settled, making her a very unique soul. Most souls eventually find a planet they love after a few lives and call it home. This is her ninth life and her ninth planet. Wanderer wakes up in her new body and in her new world. Her suicide attempt fails, her body is healed and an alien soul is implanted within Melanie’s body.

If she is caught alive, her new host will use her memories to lead the rest of the “souls” back to Jared and Jaime. Before the “seekers” can get to her, she tries to commit suicide.
